Aunt Gina's Meatless Italian Lasagna

Makes 1 11x14 pan or 2 9x13 pans

Ingredients:
1 box lasagna pasta
2 lbs. grated mozzarella cheese
2 15-oz. cans tomato sauce
1 29-oz. can diced tomatoes
1/2 gallon milk
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
Chopped onion and garlic
Onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper (all to taste)

Cook pasta and drain.

Sauce:
  • In a large pot, melt butter, add flour, and stir until blended.
  • Add the milk, chopped onion and garlic, and stir over medium heat, scraping the bottom of the pan, until thick. This takes between 15and 20 minutes.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce and the diced tomatoes.
  • Add remaining spices to taste.
Assembly:
In the pan(s) layer the pasta, sauce, and cheese. Repeat, finishing with a thicker layer of cheese on top.
Cover tightly with foil.
Bake at 350*... 11x14-inch pan for 1-1/2 hours... 9x13-inch pan for 1 hour.
